Centennial – Christian Living Communities (CLC) has cancelled the 9Health Fair that was to be held at its Someren Glen Retirement Community on Tuesday, April 29th due to recent illness.
Christian Living Communities has experienced isolated cases of Norovirus at each of its three retirement communities. All precautionary steps are being taken to stop the spread of the disease including cancelling the 9Health Fair. At Someren Glen Retirement Community, the location at which the fair was to be held, there are only a few cases but organizational leadership did not want to risk any chance of exposure to the general public.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Norovirus is the most common cause of gastroenteritis in the United States. CDC estimates that each year on average 19 to 21 million cases of acute gastroenteritis are caused by noroviruses. That means about 1 in every 15 Americans will get norovirus illness each year.
As a leader in health care, CLC adheres to high standards for containment and prevention of illnesses. Cancelling the 9Health Fair was the best option to prevent the illness from spreading further and to be a good community health partner.
People who have already registered for the 9Health Fair at Someren Glen – Christian Living Communities for tomorrow should print out their on-line registration form to take with them to another fair. Participants should call the 9Health Fair office at 303.698.4455 if they have any questions.
