Clermont Park Retirement Community is one of three communities owned and operated by Christian Living Communities (CLC) and was originally founded by members of the Christian Reformed and Reformed Churches of America. They were descendants of Dutch Calvinist immigrants who came to this country in the 19th century and settled in Denver. These forward-thinking men and women dreamed of churches, Christian schools, hospitals, welfare agencies and organizations serving older adults.
Local church members believed that a Christian community must care for all its members, including their older adults. On May 7, 1972, this group opened a 62-bed nursing home called University Hills Christian Nursing Home on the property that has now become Clermont Park.
Volunteers from the Denver-area Reformed and Christian Reformed churches, along with staff from Bethesda Hospital, form the University Hills Christian Nursing Home Association, with the purpose of providing a quality care community for area elders.
